Dorothy L. (Malec) Banach-Erti, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Dorothy Malec.

Dorothy attended school in Canada and at the age of eighteen she moved to Niagara Falls, NY. Dorothy was predeceased by her former husband Michael Banach, Jr. who she married on July 5, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY. She later married Virginio Erti on October 20, 1978 in Niagara Falls, NY. Dorothy was a member of the Ad Astra Polish Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and completing puzzle books.

In addition to her husband of thirty six years, Dorothy is survived by two children Bonnie (Carl) LaMacchia and Michael (Pam) Banach, III both of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by her daughter Karen (Tony) Valenza. She is also survived by five grandchildren Deanna (Kevin) Smith, Anthony Valenza, Justin (Kimberly) LaMacchia, Marissa Banach and Courtney Banach; two great grandchildren Jacob Smith and Emma LaMacchia; one sister Patricia (Earl) Isbister of Burlington, Ontario, Canada and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and Canada. She was also predeceased by one sister Sheila (late Dave) Dalgleish and one brother Stanley Malec.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. A private entombment at the convenience of the family will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
