Dorothy S. Chiappone, 91, of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Edith (Palumbo) Spina.
Dorothy attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On October 3, 1953, Dorothy married her soulmate, Domenico Chiappone, at St. Joseph's Church. Together, they shared 71 years of steadfast love and partnership, always putting their family at the heart of their lives.
Dorothy dedicated many years to the Niagara Falls Board of Education, retiring in 1995. She had a passion for coordinating travel tours, bringing joy and connection to countless people through her efforts. She was also a longtime member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society and parishioner of Prince of Peace Church.
Dorothy is survived by her three loving daughters: Diane (Greg) Ziegler, Carol (John) Kajfasz, and Donna (Mario) Antonacci. She was a devoted grandmother to nine cherished granddaughters: Amanda (Jason) Watrous, Amelia (Justin) Ziegler, Morgan (Charlie) Ziegler, Morissa Ziegler, Krista (Brock) Kajfasz, Deanna (DJ) Virtuoso, Alexa (Dan) Barrancotta, Alyssa (Martin) DeRosa, and Aubree (Tristan) Diez. Her legacy of love continues through her great-grandchildren: Elise and Evan Watrous, Briella Bannon, Ava Virtuoso, and Ariana Barrancotta. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved dog, Bo.
She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Weatherby, and will be fondly remembered by her extended family, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy's remarkable life on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment will be held privately in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her endless love for her family, her vibrant spirit, and the enduring legacy of kindness and devotion she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
