Dorothy M. Ferguson, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, in Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Steinkirchner) McGroarty.

Dorothy was raised in Clearfield where she attended local schools and graduated from high school. She moved to Western New York in her early 20s with her husband Harold Ferguson. They were married on May 12, 1956. After 31 years of marriage, he later predeceased her in 1987.

Dorothy was employed with Niagara County as an administrative assistant and receptionist for the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Department in the Niagara Falls and Lockport offices. She also previously worked at the Riley Gear Corporation in North Tonawanda, NY.

On April 28, 1990, Dorothy married Lonnie Baker and spent over 25 years together until his passing. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Leo's Church in Niagara Falls. Above all, she loved spending time with her family who will miss her deeply.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Douglas (Nita) Ferguson, Denise (Brian) Clemo, Dawn (Mark) Hanner, Doris Ferguson, Darin (Jialin) Ferguson, Ilene (Larry) Garrison and Dawn (Joseph) Pytlik; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Chelsea, Michelle, Ashleigh, Kelly, Samuel, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Benjamin, Alex and Peter; her loving great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by four cherished siblings.

Visitation will be Monday, March 3 from 11 – 1 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind at afb.org.
