Dorothy Anne (Cancemi) Frost, 77 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Paula Theresa (Morreale) Cancemi.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Afterwards, Dorothy received her degree in education from Buffalo State College where she continued her post graduate studies. Dorothy began working for the Niagara Falls Board of Education as a young woman, and went on to have a 32 year career as a second grade teacher at 17th Street and Niagara Street schools. Dorothy retired in 1992, and was very proud and often made humor of the fact "she never made it past the second grade". She was also very active in her family's business, Cancemi Furniture in Niagara Falls where she served as the company's secretary and treasurer. Dorothy, alongside her brother and best friend Jimmy, were actively involved in the Niagara Falls Festival of Lights, as well as other numerous civic organizations. She was also an active member of the Niagara Falls College Club and Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) fraternal organization.

Dorothy was a devout catholic who attended daily Mass and had a strong devotion to St. Anne so much so that her license plate read "St. Anne". She was a longtime parishioner of the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church and St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Madonna Del Soccorso Society as well as a member of the Women's Cristoforo Colombo Society. Dorothy was a tremendous baker who delivered countless baked goods to her family and friends over the years. Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for her loving, generous and nurturing soul.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Theresa Anne (Gregg) Frost Plimpton of Alpharetta, GA, her twin grandsons, Zachary Andrew and Nathaniel Bennett Plimpton, her brother Vincent "Jimmy" (Kathleen) Cancemi, Sr. of Niagara Falls, NY, nephews, Vincent Anthony (Tiffany Thoman) Cancemi, Jr. and Anthony James Cancemi, and great-nephew, Carter James Cancemi. A special thank you to her cherished and special caregiver's cousins, Marie DeFelice and Nancy Rescigno as well as to her extended family and friends for their love and spiritual support, especially Mr. Abe Mclarahmore for sharing his own special gift. Dorothy was also predeceased by her former husband Robert S. Frost.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday January 22nd at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
