Douglas L. Pike, 73, of Falling Waters, WV, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY died suddenly on Monday November 21, 2011 in Oswego, NY while visiting family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Verne Wally Pike and Helen (Watt) Kase.
Douglas retired from Life Technologies on Grand Island and prior to that he worked at Hooker Chemical Co., Carborundum and Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. He also volunteered his services at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston and later at City Hospital in West Virginia. Douglas was a Fourth Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 in Niagara Falls, NY. In his leisure time he loved hunting, fishing and coaching for the Midtown Little League in Niagara Falls. Most of all Douglas' greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Rizzo) Pike, five children Dominick (Sandra) Pike of Oswego, NY; Donna Pike of Martinsburg,West Virginia; Doreen Pike of Niagara Falls, NY; Debra (Bruce) Swiatlowski of Carlsbad, California and Douglas W.(Amy) Pike of Niagara Falls, NY; six grandchildren Caitlin, Steven, Adam, Christopher, Meghan and Ryan,one uncle Ralph Pike of Florida, many sister and brother in- laws in Niagara Falls, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dogs "Tinkerbell and Minnie."
Visitation will be on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday November 26th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment at the convenience of the family will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
