Obituary

Douglas G. Tweed, 69, of North Tonawanda, passed away with his children by his side on August 8, 2020 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, after several months of declining health.  Born on November 12, 1950 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Otis and late Hathaway (Franklin) Tweed, the youngest of seven children.

Doug graduated from Wilson High School, attended Trinidad State Junior State College to play baseball, and obtained his Associate's degree from NCCC.  He served in the United Airforce from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1991.  He then enlisted into the United States Air National Guard and served as a fighter jet mechanic at the Niagara Falls Airbase for 15 years. Doug later retired from Verizon as a field technician in 2012, and spent the majority of his retirement at his residence in Bradenton, FL.

Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, children, grandchildren, and friends. He was an avid baseball player growing up and a passionate fan of the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed coaching, traveling and fine dining but above all, he was a proud father and grandfather.  His family wasn't just important to him – it was everything.

Doug is survived by his son, Justin (Theresa) Tweed; his daughter, Kristina (Wayne) Worthington; 3 grandchildren, Allie, Waylon and Sophia; his brother, Otis Tweed as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Woodrow, Eddie, Shirley, Wanda, and Patterson.
