Obituary

Edith T. (Lizzotti) Navarroli, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Friday November 30, 2012 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Terrelle, Italy she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Grace (D'Ammizio) Lizzotti.

On September 7, 1946 she married Amadio 'Amy' Navarroli at Holy Rosary Church in Thorold, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Navarroli predeceased her on June 10, 2005. Edie, as she was known, was a devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to so many. Known as "Lala" by her great grandchildren, Edith enjoyed opera, Broadway musicals, singing, crocheting, traveling and being a faithful member of St. Joseph's choir for over 45 years.


Edith was active in St. Joseph's, Bishop Duffy and Madonna's Mothers clubs, always volunteering and supporting the area parochial schools. She was a member of the Madonna del Soccorso Society and many other church related prayer groups. As a devout Catholic, Edith was often called upon to pray for those in need of spiritual support. She lovingly referred to her list of prayer requests daily. In 2004, she and her late husband Amadio were honored by the Pine Ave. Business Association as "Special Citizens", an award she was proud to receive being a resident of Niagara Falls' Little Italy district for over 60 years.

Edith is survived by four children Anthony (Patricia) Navarroli of Niagara Falls, NY; John (Jennifer) Navarroli of Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada, Marie (late Charles) Kropp of Longboat Key, FL and Roseanne (Patrick) Devaux of Welland, Ontario; five grandchildren Anthony Navarroli, Jr., Michael (Adrienne) Navarroli, Kendra (Michael) Navarroli-Upham, Michael (Vicki) Kropp and Arielle Devaux; five great grandchildren Olivia Navarroli, Alexandra Navarroli, Anthony Navarroli III, Isabella Navarroli and Christianna Navarroli, one sister Josephine (late Joseph) Savoia of Thorold, Ontario and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister Louis (late Irene) Lizzotti, Clementine (late Joseph) Doherty and Anthony Lizzotti.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Melvin Dyster, the entire first floor staff of Schoellkopf Health Center, and Niagara Hospice for their care, compassion and support. Special thanks to Father Duane Klizek, Father Stewart Lindsay and all the members of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph Church, and the St. Joseph's Choir under the direction of Jeff Jeckovich.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Tuesday December 4th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Catholic High School Music Department Program, 520 66th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14304 are graciously appreciated. .
