Edith Maria Szabo, 76 of Lewiston, NY passed away on June 2, 2018.  Born September 18, 1941 in Subotica, Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of the late, Ferenc Szekeres and Marija Lipaič, and step-daughter of the late Stefan Lipaič.

Edith married Lajos Szabo on June 4, 1966, and together with their family immigrated to the United States in April 1977.  Edith was a gifted artist who created numerous paintings and sculptures.  For many years she worked at Works of Art Gallery in Niagara Falls, and volunteered her time restoring religious statues in many local churches.  Edith also volunteered her time at the American Legion Post 923 and John Duke Center.  In addition to her art, she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, sewing and flower gardening.  Edith was extremely proud of her Hungarian heritage.  She took great pleasure in preparing Hungarian foods as well as upholding her cultural and traditions.  Above all, Edith enjoyed spending time with her family, and was exceptionally influential in her grandchildren's lives.

In addition to her beloved husband Lajos, Edith is survived by her children, Frank Kumi, Robert (Michelle) Szabo and Vilmos (fiancé Justine Brierley) Szabo, her adoptive son Vance Wooten, grandchildren, Joshua and Virginia Kumi, Nathaniel, Zachary and Adam Szabo, Zoltan and Vilmos Szabo, Christian and Jillian Brierley, one great-granddaughter, Vivian Szabo as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at M.J.
