Edward Catanese, 59, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 2nd, 2016 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of LaRue (Stumph) Catanese and the late Albert Catanese.
Ed served in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Dix, N.J. until his honorable discharge in 1975. On December 31, 1978, he married his loving wife, Debbie Catanese in Niagara Falls. Ed was employed as a driver for the Salvation Army and also volunteered his time to the community as a Bell Ringer during the holiday season. Ed also served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Niagara #1 Fire Company.
Ed was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his cousin Mark. He was also a passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed playing cards. Above all, Edward will be remembered as a kind and generous man who always enjoyed helping others.
In addition to his wife and mother, Edward is survived by his two children, Timothy Zimmerman and Robert Catanese; three grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa and Avery Catanese; two sisters, Marcia (Ernest Wright) Stumph and Anna Marie (George) Magliazzo, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
