Edward John Hurley died unexpectedly at the age of 76 on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was born the first of four children to Edward Joseph Hurley and Antonietta (Toni) (Peri) Hurley on August 8, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY.
Ed attended Niagara Wheatfield High School before joining the United States Air Force, along with the New York Air National Guard, where he served full-time for 40 years. He retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) in charge of the 107th Fighter Infantry Group jet engine shop at the Niagara Falls Air Base. Ed also served in the Vietnam War from January 26, 1968 to June 11, 1969 and several other active-duty assignments over the years.
Ed enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping, boating, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, along with spending time with his family. In his earlier days Ed enjoyed building houses with his father and brother. He also enjoyed working on cars, boats, motorcycles, and engines using his extensive mechanic skills.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra (Cook) Hurley; his three children, Gina (Brian) Shiah, Edward James Hurley, and Kelly Hurley; along with three granddaughters, Marissa Shiah, Briana Shiah, and Cazmara Hurley; sisters, Donna (Richard) Montagna, Bonnie (Michael) Bugay; and sister-in-law, Judith Hurley. He is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Hurley. Also survived by in-laws, Candy Cook, Cindy Cook, Tina (Raymond) Jackson, Edward Cook, Terry Cook (predeceased wife Denise) and the late Gary Cook; and step-sister-in-law, Yvonne Kinz (predeceased Fred Watson), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
