Edward "Ed" Laska, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on March 6, 2017, at O.L.P. Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late William and Caroline (Kaczor) Laska, Sr.
Ed attended local schools and served in the United States Navy during World War II where he served aboard a tank landing ship that participated in D-Day operations on June 6 th 1944. He married his loving wife, Alice Laska (nee Kowalski) on August 28 th , 1948 at St. Leo's Church. Ed was employed at Moore Business Forms for over 27 years. A career change brought him to General Motors in Lockport until he retired in 1986 after 20 years of service. For many years, Ed was also a western riding instructor at Rainbow Stables in Lockport.
Mr. Laska was an avid magician and enjoyed performing tricks at festivals and shows throughout the area. He also enjoyed attending flea markets. Above all, Ed cherished the times spent with his loving family.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, Ed is survived by his children, Gary Edward (Susan) Laska, David Laska and Linda Marie (Francis) Gallagher; grandchildren, Melissa Laska, Peter Brennan, Michael (Amy) Laska, Erick Laska and Maia Gallagher; great-grandchildren Nilsson, Randall, Adam, Ewan and Olivianna. He is also survived by his siblings, William (Delores) Laska and Dolores (late Jim) Zucco, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 10 th from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent Parish at Prince of Peace, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice or to the Niagara County SPCA.
