Obituary

Edward A. McGinley Sr. 82 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday November 29, 2010 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Horace and Lillian (Johnson) McGinley.

Mr. McGinley was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. He served in the United States Navy from October 17, 1945 until his honorable discharge on July 6, 1949 and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal and American Theatre Medal. On March 31, 1951 he married Jean (Brigante) McGinley at the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Ed worked at the Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement. In his younger years he also participated in local bowling leagues.

In addition to his wife of fifty nine years, Mr. McGinley is survived by his four children, Frank E. McGinley of North Tonawanda, NY, Mary Ann (Doug) Hess, Edward A. McGinley Jr. both of Niagara Falls, NY and Vince (Kim) McGinley of Williamsville, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Horace 'Buddy' McGinley, Jimmy McGinley, Jack McGinley and one sister Edith Washington.

There will be no prior visitation. Mr. McGinley's body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Niagara University Alumni Chapel in Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148 or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America 386 Park Ave. South 17th Floor New York, NY 10016.
