Obituary

Edward Salvatore Falsetti, 87, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Wednesday January 1, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was born on December 25, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY son of the late Gaetano 'Guy)' and Rachel Cora (Bosso) Falsetti.

Ed grew up in Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated from Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls in 1944. After high school he served in the United States Army, and then he worked at Union Carbide, and attended the University of Buffalo, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1952. He became a Licensed Professional Engineer,worked at Chemical Design and started Mesch Engineering, where he remained until 2002. Ed also was a founding partner of AFPS, a company that performed testing and R&D for GM/Delphi. He continued engineering work as a consultant until his passing. He also enjoyed playing golf and sailing, serving as the Commodore of the Olcott Yacht Club. Ed was always glad to help others, and he was especially proud of his 57 years of service in the Lions Club, where he had served in the Olcott Chapter as secretary, president, a member of the Board of Directors, editor of the Olcott Lions newsletter and was honored to become a Life Member.Ed was noted for happily helping in many of the Olcott Lions Club Polar Bear "Swim for Sight" days, and for his unflagging sense of humor.
Ed married Barbara Ann Lonctoin 1950 in Niagara Falls, NY. They were happily married for 48 years. Barbara was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a graduate of Buffalo State College and University of Buffalo, and a speech instructor at Niagara County Community College until her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed sailing, traveling, reading, and helping with her children.

Mr. Falsetti was predeceased by his wife Barbara Ann (Loncto) Falsetti. He is survived by his sons, John J.Falsetti, James S. (Nannette) Falsetti, and Guy T. (Jill) Falsetti, his daughter Susan C.Falsetti-Breeloff and was predeceased by a son Edward W. Falsetti. He is Also survived by grandchildren, Rachella Simon, Scott McIntosh, Guy R. Falsetti, Ravi Falsetti, Samuel Falsetti, Adriana Falsetti, Amber Mason, Andrew Evans, Michael Falsetti, Heather Carlyle, and Clarissa Breeloff; his great-grandchildren, Mason Falsetti, Kevin Feeley, Joshua Carlyle, Grace Criswell, Morgan and Jackson Mason and Jacob Evans, sister Elizabeth DiChiara; brothers Dr. Dominic (Margaret) Falsetti and Dr. Herman (Jan) Falsetti; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was also preceded in death by his brother Joseph R. Falsetti; sisters Rosario 'Rose' Gallo and Marie Alexander.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will begin on Tuesday January 7th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Olcott Lions Club.
