Edwin C. Romney, 79, of Lewiston, NY died on Thursday August 26, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Marie D. (Givens) Romney.
Mr. Romney attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. He later graduated from Leeds and Northrup Technical School in North Wales, PA and also attended Buffalo State College and graduate industrial apprenticeship school for four years. On February 16, 1952 he married Charlotte J. (Dalton) Romney at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Romney was employed as a journeyman electrician at Union Carbide Product Division from May 1950 until his retirement as a Maintenance Foreman in December 1986. He was also an instructor to industrial trades on pneumatic and hydraulic equipment at Trott Vocational School for four years. He served in the Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class from June 1948 thru June 1965 and the U.S. Air Force 914th Airlift Wing from June 1968 until retiring as a Master Sergeant in June 1991. Mr. Romney was an avid outdoorsman on camping, hunting, fishing and golf. He was a former member of the 3F Club and a member of Lewiston #2 Volunteer Exempt Firemen Benevolent Association, Niagara County Volunteer Fireman, U.S. Air Force Club, Air Force Sergeant Association and the U.S. Uniformed Service Air Force Retired.
In addition to his wife of fifty eight years, Mr. Romney is survived by six children Christopher M. (Christine) Romney of Gasport, NY; Ailleen M. (Paul) Siuta of Sanborn, NY; Diane C. Pyzynski of Edgewater, FL; Linda L. Romney of Lewiston, NY; Patricia J. (Michael) Cunningham of Leesburg, VA; Barbara J. (Gregg) Pfeiffer of the Town of Tonawanda, NY and was predeceased by two children Michael P. (late Nancy) Romney and Kathleen S. Payne. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one sister Janet M. (late Ronald) Yates.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday August 30th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Entombment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
