Eleanor
Hohmann
March 19, 2026
Eleanor Hohmann, 90, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at McAuley Residence in Tonawanda, NY. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Emmy (Ernst) Rieman; and the beloved wife of the late Carl “Herbie” Hohmann.
Eleanor was raised in Buffalo and graduated from Kensington High School. She formed a career with The New York Telephone Company, then with Verizon and AT&T, where she worked for many years. During her time there, she was honored with the Miss Voice & Courtesy Award, a reflection of her kindness and professionalism. She was also deeply involved with the Telephone Pioneers of America and cherished attending their annual events with her family.
A woman who loved her community, Eleanor volunteered as an usher at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo for numerous years. She enjoyed attending performances at the Shaw Festival and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, where she found joy in the art of live performance.
Eleanor treasured over 30 years spent at Rushford Lake with family and close friends. She was an avid shopper and was an impeccable dresser, classic in her style, outfits always on point. Eleanor also enjoyed crafts, specifically, painting and created many beautiful pieces and decorative collectibles. She had a lifelong love of animals and birdwatching. Known for her exceptional baking, she especially enjoyed the holiday seasons, when she could gather with the family she cherished most. Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
