Elizabeth "Betty" J. Cancilla, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Julia (Gonzalez) Boniello and the beloved wife of Louis C. Cancilla, who sadly predeceased her in 1998.

Betty was a proud graduate of Niagara Falls High School, where she met the love of her life.  Betty and Lou were married for 37 years before his untimely death.  Their love was a romance that only a few have been lucky enough to have experienced.  She taught her first passion, ceramics, for decades before her second passion took over, Betty's Bridal Boutique, born from helping her eldest son Lou with his wedding in 1987.  She owned and operated her boutique for over 25 years and relished in helping young love celebrate the start of a new chapter in their lives.  Betty's creativity could not be stopped there!  She found joy in scrapbooking and designing/making greeting cards. With immense love and devotion, her son Marty designed and built a dedicated art room in her home, so she could continue pursuing the crafts she adored.  Even after becoming wheelchair-bound, Betty's determination and spirit never wavered, and she still spent hours creating works of art!  Through the years, Betty was also an avid baker!  She won a few awards and the hearts of many with her scrumptious desserts!

Above all, Betty's family was her heart and soul. The time spent together was her most beloved treasure.  Upon the passing of her husband, her grandson Mason became her saving grace.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Louis C. Cancilla II and Martin J. Cancilla; her grandson, Mason A. Cancilla; one sister, Carol (late Fred) Roussie, as well as several nieces, cousins and friends.

Betty's Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 AM at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial offerings in Betty's name may be made to St. Leo's Church.  Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
