Elvira M. (Garcia) Fera, 85, of the Town of Wheatfield, died on Monday January 14, 2013 at Medina Memorial Hospital in Medina, NY. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Celestino and Maria Louisa (Lorenzo) Garcia.

Elvira attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On February 20, 1946 she married Anthony C. Fera, Ret. N.F.P.D. Chief in Greensboro, NC. He predeceased her on July 15, 2012. Elvira was employed and also served on the Board of Directors at the Niagara Falls Housing Authority in Niagara Falls, NY for over twenty years. She was a member and served on the Board of Trustees of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Volare Lodge in Niagara Falls, NY. Elvira had a passion for cooking Spanish and Italian specialty dishes which she loved sharing with her family and friends. She loved music, had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing at family events. Elvira and her husband enjoyed taking trips. They traveled across the country several times and she especially liked going to Las Vegas. In her leisure time she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and playing cards. Elvira will be remembered as a devoted wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother.

Elvira is survived by three children Stanley (Bonnie) Fera, II of Niagara Falls, NY; Celestina (Ed) Ventry of Wheatfield, NY and Mary (Jack) Price of Groveport, OH. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony (Mary Beth of Lexington, KY) Fera, Jr. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother Celestino (Frances) Garcia of Las Vegas, NV; one sister Emma Garcia of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Friday January 18th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John De LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Slawomir Siok, SAC officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
