Ernest 'Ernie' G. Capone, 66, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on December 2, 2021 at his residence.  Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Nello and Mariannina 'Mary' (DeSimone) Capone.

Ernie attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School and earned his Associate's Degree during his time in the Air National Guard.  He was truly dedicated to serving his country both as a civil and military servant.  Ernest spent 24 years in the Air National Guard.  In addition, he spent 20 years working as a Revenue Collector for the Internal Revenue Service in Western NY, as well as in Las Vegas, NV.    Ernie was a member of the Knights of Columbus, No. 13456 St. Francis of Assisi Council in Henderson, NV, the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, and the VFW.  Ernie enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, and spending time on the beach. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.   Ernie will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to give the shirt off of his own back for anyone in need.

Ernest is survived by his sons, Paul Capone, Anthony Capone, and Enrico Capone; his siblings, Joseph (Colleen) Capone and Marianne (Bruce) Wisbaum, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Capone, DDS, Lawrence (Helen) Capone, and his sister, Joanne Capone.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 9 AM to 11:15 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 AM, followed by Ernest's Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Knights of Columbus, No. 13456 St. Francis of Assisi Council, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson, NV 89052.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
