Obituary

Ernest Albert Grenzy Jr. "Uncle Joe", 85, was called Home to be with The Good Lord on January 16, 2012, eight years to the day after his loving wife, in Bradenton FL. Born in Ferndale MI, he was the son of the Late Ernest A. Sr. and Clara (Ellmire) Grenzy.

Mr. Grenzy was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, and attended local schools. During World War II he served as a Corporal in the Military Police Battalion in the United States Army from August 14, 1944 until his honorable discharge on August 2, 1946. Following that, he joined the United States Navy Reserves, stationed at Niagara Falls Air Base from September 18, 1949 until his honorable discharge on September 17, 1953. In 1950 Mr.Grenzy married Izetta Marie Deeter; she predeceased him on January 16, 2004 after 54 years of marriage.

Ernest was employed at the International Cooperage Plant (Grief Brothers) for 26 years and then at Harrison Radiator Plant in Lockport, NY for 22 years. Upon retiring he and his loving wife became "snow birds" in Palmetto, FL. Mr. Grenzy loved spending time with his family, bowling, wooden crafts and traveling. He had coached his two sons in Little League and was involved in Cub Scouts. Mr Grenzy was also a member of the Masons.

Mr. Grenzy is survived by two beloved sons, Ernest A. (Patricia) Grenzy II of Lewiston, NY and Mark A.(late Cynthia) Grenzy of Lockport, NY; seven grandchildren; Jennifer Grenzy, Danielle (Erik) Battaglia, Angela (Eric) Tuchols, Alicia Grenzy (fiancée Adam Bilicki), Matthew Grenzy, Christopher (Joscelyn) Grenzy, and Michael (Janelle) Grenzy; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters Dorothy Wisniewski and Virginia (Dominic) Ceretto, both of Niagara Falls, NY; many loving nieces and nephews; his dear friends Betty Knoll of Bradenton, FL. and Tom and Dorothy Randall of Lockport, NY. He was predeceased by two sisters Mary Betters Shockey and Joan Koert.

Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 10 AM with Rev. Robert W. Peck, officiating. Interment with military honors in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. If desired, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 130 S. Elmwood Ave. Suite 620, Buffalo, NY 14202.
