Ernest Guarasci, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday January 11, 2009 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Callara, Consenza, Italy he was the son of the late Pietro and Filomena (Villela) Guarasci.

Ernest was educated in Italy and in 1947 he immigrated to Canada where he lived until moving to Niagara Falls, NY in 1955. On January 7, 1956 he married Jean M. Guarasci at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Guarasci predeceased him on March 31, 2001. He was employed at the General Motors Foundry Plant in Tonawanda where he worked as a welder and machine repairman for 36 years retiring in 1985. Following his retirement he and his wife relocated to Ft. Myers, Florida. Ernest was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society in Niagara Falls. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing bocce ball,exercising, and was an avid Buffalo Sabres fan.

Mr. Guarasci is survived by two sons Daniel J. (Patricia) Guarasci of Wheatfield, NY and Michael E. (Mary) Guarasci of Princeton Junction, NJ; three grandchildren Elizabeth Guarasci, Michael E. Guarasci Jr. and Daniel J. Guarasci II.; one brother Frank (Divice) Guarasci of Rome, Italy; one sister Ellen (Ralph) Borgese of Ft. Erie, Ontario Canada and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers Tony (Carmelina of Niagara Falls, Ontario) Guarasci, Michael Guarasci and one sister Amalia (late Francesco) Monaco.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3-7pm at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS NY where a Prayer service will be held immediately following at 7pm with Rev. Stewart Lindsay OSFS officiating. Entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston NY,will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
