Eugene J. Cosgrove, 71, of Lockport, NY died on Sunday July 25, 2010 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Patrick and Angela Cosgrove.

Gene attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He later attended the Niagara County Community College Police Academy in Sanborn, NY and had a career in law enforcement until retiring from the Niagara County Sheriff's Department in 2000. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Gene was a member of the Niagara County Sportsmen Club and in his leisure time he enjoyed camping, fishing, gun collecting and target shooting.

Gene is survived by his wife of thirty years Laurel (Tanzella) Cosgrove, seven children Robert (Janet) Cosgrove of Ohio; Anette (Scott) Register, Lori (Mike) Streb, Patrick (Bernadette) Cosgrove all of Niagara Falls, NY; Dominic (Lori) Caterina of Rochester, NY; Phillip (Angela Nuzzo) Caterina of Amherst, NY and Laura (Jordan Floss) Symes of Lockport, NY; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother William Cosgrove of Lewiston, NY; one sister Patricia Ross of Lewiston, NY; his mother in law Louisa (late Phillip) Tanzella of Niagara Falls, NY; sister in law Carol (Paul) Wright of Niagara Falls, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving pet dog Drago. He was predeceased by one brother John Cosgrove.

Visitation will be on Thursday July 29th from 9 – 11 a.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with Rev.
