Eugene V. 'Gene' Sdao of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away under the care of Niagara Hospice at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY at the wonderful age of 90.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Catherine (Runco) Sdao.

Gene grew up in Plumville, PA and graduated from Plumville High School.  He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1951.  He graduated from Niagara County Community College with a degree in Business Administration.  On August 2, 1962, he married Angela J. (Schiavone) Sdao.

Gene was employed as a Master Carpenter and Tile Installer for Carpenter's Local #280 in Lockport, NY, where he served as recording secretary.  He also worked for the Civil Defense in Niagara Falls, NY.  In addition, Gene was a longtime member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society, where he received the Distinguished Service Award in 2015.  He was a member of the Society's Lottery Committee and took pride in selling the most lottery tickets out of the membership group.  He enjoyed going to DiCamillo's and Marketside Restaurant for his daily coffee.  Most of all, Gene loved everyone and will be remembered for his willingness to do anything for anyone.

In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Eugene is survived by his devoted daughter and the apple of his eye, Carla C. Sdao as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins as well as many wonderful friends. In addition, he was the brother in law of Maria (late Anthony) Puglisi, Joseph (Karen) Schiavone, and the late Joanne Schiavone.  He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Sam (late Ida) Alongi, Annie Torquato, Frances (late Benny) Baldacchino, Josephine (late John) D'Anna, William (Ida Sdao), (Lil) Sdao, Jenny (late Angelo) DeFazio, and James (Betty) Sdao.

Gene's family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff of the 5 ^th Floor of Mt. St. Mary's Hospital and to Niagara Hospice for the excellent care that Gene received.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Monday at 11:15 AM followed by Eugene's Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Mt.
