Filomena Volpe, 97, of North Tonawanda, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on October 9, 2022 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital.  Born in Introdacqua, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the Panfilo and Francesca (D'Andrea) Volpe.

Filomena was educated and raised in Italy.  On February 20, 1944, she married Giuseppe "Peppino" Volpe at Santa Maria Annunziata Church in Introdacqua, Italy.  Mr. Volpe predeceased her on May 28, 2008.  In 1952, Filomena and her husband came to Canada, and later moved to the United States in 1955.  In the 1980's and 1990's, she was employed as a maid at the Holiday Inn in Niagara Falls, NY.  Filomena was an excellent cook, and known for her sauce and soups.  She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and knitting.  More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Filomena is survived by her children, Louise Volpe and Michael Volpe; her grandchildren Meredith (Amy) Volpe, Gabrielle (Kirk) Higner, Alessandra Volpe and Lucas Volpe; her great grandchildren, Lillian Higner, Korben Higner, Jak Volpe, Ridley Volpe and Frankie Pike; her sister, Paolina (late Aldo) Robazza, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her husband of 64 years, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mario (late Bina) Volpe, Pasquale (late Gilda) Volpe, Elio 'Leo' (late Esterina) Volpe, and Oreste Volpe.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM.  Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
