Florence (Meyo) Acotto, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Monday July 16, 2012 at Harbour House Multicare Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Compobosso, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Mary Meyo. She was predeceased by her husband John Acotto on May 4, 1983.

Florence came to the United States at an early age and attended local schools. Together with her family, she owned and operated the former Press Box Restaurant, a popular well known restaurant on Niagara Street in Niagara Falls, NY. Florence was an active parishioner and served as a Eucharistic minister of St. Mary of the Cataract Church, and was vice-president of the South End Alliance, both in Niagara Falls. She had a feisty personality which fueled her passion for politics and served the area as a state representative for the Niagara County Republican Party Committee.

Florence was also predeceased by her brother John Patrick (Olive of Niagara Falls, Ontario) Meyo. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Darlene (late Hilton) Irish of Niagara Falls, NY; Linda Pendola of Thurmont, MD and John (Christine) Meyo of Lancaster, NY; numerous great nieces and great nephews, her close friends Robin Conti and Barbara Geracitano as well as her family, friends and employees of the former Press Box.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday July 21st at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 Fourth Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
