MYERS – Florence “Susie” Denault, April 30, 2026, age 91, of Grand Island, New York. Cherished mother of Karen (Jeff) Schauger, Laura (Geoff) Glaser, and Sarah Tierney; treasured grandmother of Rachel (Branden) Simone, Aaron (Kirsten) Schauger, Lauren Glaser, Garrett Glaser, Ryan Tierney and Matthew Tierney; dearest brother of Edward (Becky) Denault; beloved great grandmother and aunt; preceded in death by her husband Claude Richard Myers (2014), parents Clinton and Florence Denault, brother Robert Denault and sister Jeanne Denault.

Susie died peacefully at Buffalo General Hospital. Her innate optimism and zest for life never wavered. She was the embodiment of a “Renaissance woman” whose extensive talents included woodworking, home restoration, quilting, weaving, sewing, knitting, cooking, canning and gardening. All who knew Susie believed that she could do anything, and she proved them right throughout her long, rich life. After growing up in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, she graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 1956 with majors in oboe/English horn and piano performance. A superb musician, she was the solo English hornist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for 45 years (1957-2002). Susie taught many oboe and piano students, leaving an enduring legacy. While working full time and raising her three daughters, she also earned her Master of Science degree in speech language pathology and audiology in 1977 from Buffalo State College. Susie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

An open house celebrating her extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, June 13 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at Ellden’s Grill & Banquet, 201 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island. Because Susie was an animal lover and advocate, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
