Frank G. Buzzelli, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Niagara Hospice House surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Guy and Margaret (Palumbo) Buzzelli.
On April 26, 1952 he married his loving wife, Helen M. (Hargrave) Buzzelli at St. Joseph Church. Helen passed away on February 13, 2018 after 65 cherished years together.
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, he graduated from Stella Niagara Cadet School in 1940 and Niagara Falls High School in 1944.
During World War II, Mr. Buzzelli served in the United States Navy as a 3 rd class radio man from October 23, 1944 until July 15, 1946 and was a participant of the July 1, 1946 atomic bomb test at the Bikini Atoll.
In 1950, upon graduation from Cornell University, he joined F. Buzzelli and Sons family milk business. He opened Creamland, where his homemade ice cream and lemon ice became favorites. In 1952, he merged the milk business with the Niagara Milk Cooperative, Inc. which operated both Diffine's and Wendt's Dairies. From 1958 until 1990 he served as General Manager of the Cooperative.
Over the years, Mr. Buzzelli was a member and president of Prince of Peace Church, the Holy Name Society and vice president of the Niagara Falls Junior Chamber of Commerce.
An avid sports fan, he was a 30-year season ticket holder of the Buffalo Bills. Both the Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees were also on his favorites list.
Mr. Buzzelli is survived by his children, Barbara (James) Ciurczak, Frank (Mercille) Buzzelli, Jr., Mark (Cheryl) Buzzelli, James (Eda) Buzzelli and Steven (Anne) Buzzelli; grandchildren, Lisa (James), Gina (Jason), David (Tiffany), Craig (Jaime), Kevin (Samantha), Heather, Christina (David), Carla (Vaughan), Gino (Nadeen), Gabriella, Steve and Ariana; eleven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by one sister, Norma D'Alonzo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 25 th from 4 – 8:00 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors.
