Obituary

Frank “Chic” D’Agostino, 81, of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 17, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Joseph (late Lena) D’Agostino and the late Mary (Kendzia) D’Agostino. Frank moved to Niagara Falls as a child, where he began life with modest means and a restless spirit. Through his perseverance and determination, he built a life of great purpose, achievement, and excitement.

A proud veteran, Chic served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1964. During his service, he was deployed on the USS Independence, playing a historic role in the naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

With a sharp mind for business and a relentless work ethic, Chic was a fixture in the local business community, owning and operating Boulevard Kar Mart for 43 years alongside several other successful entrepreneurial ventures. Beyond his professional pursuits, Chic was a man of many passions. He found great adventure out on the river, a passion he generously shared by teaching successive generations the thrill of dropping a line. He also had an exceptional talent for creating, from meticulously building his deck to restoring vintage cars and boats. He also enjoyed a spirited game of cards with his good friends for many years.

He possessed a remarkable duality: known for formidable physical strength and an undeniable toughness that commanded respect. He was a guiding force and unwavering protector who enhanced the lives of all who crossed his path. An exceptionally rare soul with profound generosity, he consistently stepped up to care for and elevate those who needed it most. A natural mentor, he shared his time and expertise, never seeking credit for the countless lives he impacted. Above all else, Chic’s greatest treasure was his family.

His strength and character lives on through his beloved wife, Sharon (Pawlak) D’Agostino; his children, Jacqueline D’Agostino, Frank D’Agostino, Jenna (John) Lysiak, and Matthew D’Agostino; his former wife, Kathleen Palazzo, the mother of his two eldest children; his grandson, Joseph Mangione; and his siblings, the late Susan Costanzo, Joseph D’Agostino, and Linda D’Agostino. He will also be deeply missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of dear friends.

His legacy will forever live on in the values he has instilled, the many lessons he taught and the memories greatly cherished by all of those who love him.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Chic's remarkable life on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM at the M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, concluding with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Chic’s compassionate spirit, the family kindly requests that memorial offerings be directed to an animal rescue organization of one's choosing.  Online condolences may be shared at mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com.
