Frank J. DiMatteo, 83, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Niagara Hospice House. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Maglio) DiMatteo. On Februry 7, 1953, Frank married Ann (Nudo) DiMatteo at Prince of Peace Church in Niagara Falls.
He was employed as a carpenter with Carpenters Local 280, and he worked with various contractors locally, including Monteleone & Marchetti, and throughout the country. Early in his career, he also served as a project manager in Greenland. Frank was the former owner of Riverview Construction Company during the 1970s. In addition, he also owned the 3 Star Motel in Niagara Falls from until the mid-1980s and also ran the Top of The Falls Restaurant in the early 1980s.
Over the past thirty years, Mr. and Mrs. DiMatteo spent six months a year in Arizona. Frank enjoyed golfing, fishing and his true passion was remodeling. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, and papa.
In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, Frank is survived by five children, John (Gail) DiMatteo of Lewiston, NY, Frank DiMatteo of Lewiston, NY, Darlene (Anthony) Bagneschi of Niagara Falls, NY, Mark (Robyn) DiMatteo of Chandler, AZ and Maria (Anthony) Sicurella; his grandchildren, Anthony Sicurella III, Jeffrey Bagneschi, Christopher Bagneschi, Anthony G. (Andrea) Bagneschi, Frank Sicurella, Dana DiMatteo, Angela DiMatteo and Michael DiMatteo; two nieces, Cathy Walazek and Vinnie Nudo-Fraser. He was the brother-in-law of Connie (late Nick) Pugliese and Louis (late Josephine) Nudo. He was predeceased by one brother, Michael (Ann) DiMatteo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 16th from 9:30 - 11:30 AM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd., Niagara Falls. Interment will be held at Dickersonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, 14094.
