Frank G. Metro, 76, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank N. Metro and Helen (Fideli) Metro.

Frank was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On August 29, 1970, he married his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Fermoile) Metro at St. Peter’s Church.

Following his honorable discharge from the military in 1973, Frank and Betty made their home in Long Beach, NY, where they raised their beloved daughter, Marcella. During that time, Frank worked as an Air Traffic Controller at John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark International Airport, and also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Stony Brook University. He began his nursing career in Long Beach before returning to Lewiston in 1990 with his family. Dedicated to helping others, Frank served for many years as the Substance Abuse Program Director at Intandem, formerly Opportunities Unlimited, until his retirement.

Frank had a lifelong love of music and found great enjoyment in playing the guitar. He and Betty enjoyed golfing together in their younger years and shared a deep affection for animals, especially their cats and dogs. Frank was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished the time spent with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Betty, of 56 years, Frank is survived by his daughter, Marcella (Carlos Fereirro) Metro; his granddaughter, Nicole E. White; two sisters, Deborah (Solomon) Langley and Judy Brochey and was predeceased by his brother, Ronald (late Wilhelmina) Fideli. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 14 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 15 at 10:30 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092. Interment will be held privately in the Western New York National Cemetery in Corfu, NY.
