Obituary

Frank K. "Kenny" Bruns, 69, of the Town of Lewiston, NY died on Thursday June 9, 2011 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Frank and Clara (Glonek) Bruns.

Kenny, as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong residence of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1960. On June 19, 1965 he married Mary (McDermott) Bruns at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1966. Kenny was employed at United Parcel Service (UPS) in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 1999 after thirty years of service. Prior to that he worked at the Carborundum Co. on Walmore Road from 1964 until 1968. Kenny was also a member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Company #2. In his leisure time he enjoyed auto racing, hunting and golfing. Kenny also liked puttering around his house, particularly working in his yard.

In addition to his wife of forty five years, Mr. Bruns is survived by five children Diana (David) Perri of Grand Island, NY; Joann Russo of Henderson, NV; Wendy (Kevin) Zitzka of North Tonawanda, NY; Paula (Lt. Michael J. , United States Navy) Signorelli of Chesapeake, VA; Jason (Robin) Bruns of Marion, OH and was predeceased by one daughter Terri Bruns. Survivors also include sixteen grandchildren DJ, Danielle, Dominique and Devon Perri, Hannah and Abby Russo, Leanne and Kevin Zitzka, Nick, Brayden and Avery Signorelli, Matthew (Brittany), Nicole and Randall Elswick, Kayla and Courtney Bruns, one great grandson Jack, one brother Christopher (Frances) Bruns of California, one sister Nancy (James) Bergthold of Niagara Falls, NY; niece Fran (Marcus) Owens and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one brother Don Bruns and one sister Pat Smouse.

Visitation will be on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Tuesday June 14th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
