Frank L. Maietta, 80 of Ransomville, NY passed away on Monday August 9, 2010 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Madeline (Cafaro) Maietta.
A lifelong resident of the area, Frank attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1948. He later attended Illinois College where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Frank served in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged on January 17, 1952. On April 23, 1955, he married Verna G. (Gerl) Maietta in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. For forty years, Frank was employed as the Personnel Manager of Tulip Corporation in Niagara Falls until his retirement in 1991.
Frank was a gifted athlete and exceptional bowler. In his younger years, he played varsity football, basketball and baseball. He also played softball in the Niagara Falls Industrial League and was a member of a City Championship team. Frank participated in several bowling leagues throughout the area and won numerous awards. He was a New York Yankee fan and 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 in Niagara Falls. Frank was also a longtime member of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville, NY as well as a member of their Caritas Club.
In addition to his wife of fifty five years, he is survived by two children, Frank P. (Teresa) Maietta and Madeline M. Amoretti both of Niagara Falls, NY, two grandchildren, Nicholas F. Maietta and Julianna M. Maietta, one sister Mary (Louis) Nicolette of Lewiston, NY and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother Lawrence (Doris of Niagara Falls, NY) Maietta.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday August 12th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception RC Church 4671 Townline Road Ransomville, NY with Rev. Joseph Badding officiating. Entombment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. The members of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 will conduct a Prayer Service at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:15PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Renal Center at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center 621 10th Street Niagara Falls, NY 14302.
