Frank D. Metro, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away at his residence on August 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late John and Assunta (Di Poto) Metro.

Frank was raised in Niagara Falls and attended local schools. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. Bataan from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.  On July 3, 1948, Frank married Josephine A. (Marino) Metro at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls.  Frank was employed as a cement mason in the Cement Mason's and Plasterer's Union in Niagara Falls, working for various local contractors during the 1950's and 1960's.  He then went on to work for the Niagara Falls Board of Education Maintenance Department for 26 years, retiring in 1988.  He was also a member of the former Dante's Social Club.  Frank was an avid Yankees fan who enjoyed golfing, gardening, and bowling.  Frank loved spending time with his wife, whom he referred to as "the love of my life" and his beloved family.

In addition to his wife of 71 years, Frank is survived by his children, John (Susan Brown) Metro and Mary Jo Metro Diehl (Leo Bax); his grandchildren, John F. (Lori) Metro, David Metro, Elisabeth (Robert) Nagel, Matthew (Melissa) Metro, and Victoria Diehl; great-grandchildren, John P. Metro, Grace Nagel, Olivia Nagel and Sophia Metro; his brother, Fred (late Janet) Metro, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Metro, as well as his siblings, Wilhemina (late Charles) Valenti, Joseph (late Sylvia) Metro, Nicholas (late Lillian) Metro, Carmella 'Toots' (late Charles) Marinello, Mary (late Sylvester) Scollin, Elizabeth (late Emil) Pasquantino, and Mariano (late Doris) Metro.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, August 18 ^th from 2 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:15 AM followed by Frank's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls NY 14301.  Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY with Military Honors.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
