Frank N. Metro, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday January 25, 2015 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Fuda) Metro.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. He served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1948. Frank was a member of the Laborers' Local 91 in Niagara Falls for more than fifty years and worked as a laborer with Elia Construction and Sicoli and Massaro Construction. He was also employed at the DuPont Company in Niagara Falls until his retirement in 1990. Frank enjoyed horse races and was also an avid sports fan who loved the New York Yankees.
Mr. Metro's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Niagara Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to Frank.
Frank was predeceased by his wife Helen (Fideli) Metro on December 9, 2001. He is survived by three children, Deborah R. (Solomon) Langley of San Jose, CA; Frank G. (Elizabeth) Metro and Judith C. Brochey both of Lewiston, NY; and was predeceased by a son Ronald (Wilhelmina of Ransomville, NY) Fideli. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Carmela Savitt, Gregory Nichols, Derek Fideli, Marcella Metro, David Fideli, Dawn Miller and Jeremy Brochey; fourteen great- grandchildren, Kassandra, Justin, Rosie, Nicole, Anthony, Justin, Ryan, Alex, Matthew, Grace, Maggie, Justin, Savannah and Ethan, one great-great-grandson, Harvey, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother Joseph (Ruth of Niagara Falls, NY) Metro.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Friday January 30th at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. Entombment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
