Frank J. Olejar, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Friday December 4th, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. He was the son of the late George and Anna (Zepia) Olejar.

Frank was born and educated in Nanticoke, PA. During World War II he served in Northern France and Belgium as a sergeant in the United States Army from May 19, 1943 until his honorable discharge on July 14, 1946. In 1946, he married Ida (DeCraen) Olejar in Belgium and together they moved to Niagara Falls in 1947. Mr. Olejar began working at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls, NY and then worked as a chemical operator at Hooker Chemical in Niagara Falls for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1982.

Mr. Olejar was a member of the Lasalle Sportsmens Club, American Legion Portage Post 1465 both in Niagara Falls, NY and American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield, NY. Frank was a volunteer at Veteran's Hospital in Buffalo, NY and enjoyed golf and bowling. Frank also enjoyed sharing his bowling skills by assisting children at the Cerebral Palsy Bowling Program.

In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Mr. Olejar is survived by three children: Diane Olejar (Joseph Achtyl) of Rochester, NY, Stephen Olejar of Lewiston, NY and Judy (Sean) O'Shea of Youngstown, NY; six grandchildren Karen, Mark and Claire Achtyl, Catherine and Kevin Olejar, Brendan O'Shea, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Olejar was predeceased by five brothers: Michael (late Lottie), Joseph (Helen of Pennsylvania), John (Julia of Pennsylvania), and Steven Olejar and George (late Josephine) Olejara.

Friends may call Tuesday 3 – 8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace site, 1055 N. Military Rd., Niagara Falls with Rev. Robert Hughson, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with military honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
