Frank A. Santangelo, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday November 7th, 2009 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice and his family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Bartolomeo "Ben "and Filomena "Fannie" (Cafarella) Santangelo.

Frank was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy from September 20, 1950 until his honorable discharge on July 23, 1954. On August 6, 1955 he married Julia (DiCesare) Santangelo in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Frank began working as a painter for his brother-in-law's painting business, Berdel Painting in Niagara Falls, NY. He later worked as a painter at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY and retired in 1993. Mr. Santangelo enjoyed attending the annual Ashland Avenue Dinner Club for the past fifteen years. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and horse racing.

In addition to his wife of fifty-four years, he is survived by a daughter Susan Jourdain of Niagara Falls, NY. He was predeceased by a son, Anthony F. Santangelo, on June 18, 2000. Frank is also survived by three grandchildren Terry Michael Jourdain, Amanda L. Vosburgh, and Elizabeth A. Jourdain all of Niagara Falls, NY; two great-grandchildren Jason and Julianna Jourdain; four brothers John (Josephine) Santangelo, Richard J. (Mary Ann) Santangelo, Robert (late Vincenette) Santangelo and Ben A. (Sandra) Santangelo, all of Niagara Falls, NY and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Frank was the son in law of Mary DiCesare of Niagara Falls, NY, brother in law of Marge (Frank) Mirabelli of Lewiston, NY, and the late Bernard (Delores of Wheatfield) DiCesare and the late Gloria Laughlin. Frank was predeceased by his sister Antoinette Santangelo.

Friends may call Tuesday 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON FUNERAL CHAPEL, 468 19th STREET, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
