Frank J. Trapasso, 94, of Lewiston, NY passed away Saturday December 22, 2012 at his residence while under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Salvatore Thomas Trapasso and Rose (Alcuri) Trapasso Longo, and the step-son of Nicholas Longo.
Frank attended local schools and during World War II served in the United States Army from September 11, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 19, 1944. Frank worked as a truck driver for Empire Builders in Niagara Falls, NY and worked on many construction projects in the area, including the Niagara Power project, until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed watch making and repairing broken clocks and watches, and playing ping pong. Frank was a member of the Niagara Falls YMCA for over 60 years, where he played handball, and until his recent illness, regularly exercised there three times a week.
Frank was the uncle of Maria (John) Bartolomei, Sr., Rosanne (Bob) Cascio, Sal (Rose) Trapasso, Terri (Manu) Das, Roe (Mark) Bridges, Richard (Beth) Trapasso, and Elizabeth Trapasso. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Frank was predeceased by a brother, Thomas (late Diana) Trapasso, and a sister, Eleanor (late Joseph) Colucci.
No prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday January 18th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY where Military Honors will be presented at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
