Frank Joseph Vesci, 89, of North Tonawanda, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late John and Rose (Serrianne) Vesci.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre until his honorable discharge in 1945. On April 30, 1949 he married Marian V. (Coriere) Vesci at the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Vesci predeceased him on April 26, 2000.
Frank worked for the New York Central Railroad and later at the former Kimberly Clark Corp. in Niagara Falls. Frank went on to work in the maintenance department at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY until the time of his retirement. While employed at Niagara County Community College he was awarded the Helluvagood Guy Award and a Certificate of Dedication from the Student Activities Department. Frank was a longtime active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church as well as their men's club and ushers club. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Mr. Vesci is survived by his two children, Frank (Denise) Vesci of Scottsdale, AZ and Mary (Thomas) Smith of North Tonawanda, NY; five grandchildren, Sara Vesci, Garrett Vesci, Tara (Michael) Krisch, Elizabeth Smith and Ashley Smith; one great- grandson Shaun Krisch as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother, Pat (Colleen of Niagara Falls, NY) Vesci and one sister Theresa (late Art) Wilson.
Visitation will be on Saturday September 5th from 9 – 11 a.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Upstate NY Chapter, 3300 Monroe Avenue #319, Rochester, NY 14618.
