Fred Sdao, 97, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Rossiter, PA he was the son of the late Jasper and Josephine (Pino) Sdao.

Fred came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On May 1, 1943 he married Nan (Yanchulis) Sdao at St. George's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Sdao predeceased him on August 12, 2015. Mr. Sdao was an insurance agent with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and later during the 1960's he and his wife owned and operated the El Capitan Bar and Restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY. Fred was employed as a Health Inspector for the Niagara County Health Department for thirty two years. He was a passionate New York Yankees fan and enjoyed music.

Fred is survived by four children Jill (Giles) Manias of Buffalo, NY, David (late Pam) Sdao of Deep River, CT, Lynne Sdao of Niagara Falls, NY and Rick (Wanda) Sdao of Houston, TX; six grandchildren Paul (Alexis) Manias, Giles (Ashley) Manias, Alexandra (Richard) Arnold, Nicholas McTurk, Catherine Sdao and Meredith Sdao; seven great grandchildren Olivia, Dane, Ella, Cecelia, Isabella, Freddy and Lewis; one brother William (Elaine) Sdao (late Agnes). He was predeceased by seven siblings Ben (late Frances) Baldacchino, Catherine Laurrie, Floyd (late Marie) Sdao, John (late Doris) Sdao, James (late Betty) Sdao, Deana (late Sam) Rotella and Robert (Geri) Sdao.

Visitation will be on Saturday June 18th from 9 – 10:15 a.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are graciously declined.
