Frederick J. Leo, 84 of Lockport, NY passed away on Friday December 26, 2014 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Lucarini) Leo.
Fred attended local schools graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1949 and Niagara University with a bachelor of business administration degree in 1961. On November 28, 1953, he married Betty J. (Sartino) Leo at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Leo predeceased him on October 23, 2007. Fred served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from May 11, 1951 until his honorable discharge on March 25, 1957. Fred worked as a cost accountant with the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation in Niagara Falls, NY until 1962, and then joined the Spaulding Fibre Company in Tonawanda, NY, where he worked for 30 years, retiring as benefits manager in 1992. He was a former member of the National Association of Accountants, and enjoyed golfing and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing with them the importance of carrying on family traditions.
Mr. Leo is survived by his two daughters, Annette M. (Thomas) Cuddahee of the Town of Niagara, NY and Mary Beth (Thomas) Goehle of the Town of Lockport, NY, four grandchildren, Kelli E. (Timothy) Erckert, Kevin J. (Brittany) Cuddahee, Jennifer E. (Ryan) Grimmer and Joseph T. (Gina Weston) Goehle; one great-granddaughter, Lily Elizabeth Grimmer; one sister, Yolanda Presutti of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Rita Lengen, Lucy Presutti and Connie Marra.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RAOD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday December 30th at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241, Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 10570 Bergtold Road Clarence, New York 14031 or a charity of one's choice.
