"Freddy Marr"


Frederick J. Maruca, 83 of Williamsville, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away at Elderwood Health Care at Oakwood in Williamsville, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Saverio and Lena (Previte) Maruca.


Fred graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1950 and attended Fredonia State College in Fredonia, NY and the Berkley School of Music in Boston, MA. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Air Force from June 9, 1952 until his honorable discharge on June 8, 1956. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Fred was a talented pianist arranger and professional musician who entertained at many piano bars in Buffalo area night clubs, known to many as Freddy Marr, for over forty years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading and was a great cook. Fred was known for his keen wit and sense of humor. But most of all, he loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Grandpa Scorch.


He is survived by four daughters Marie (Joseph) DelMonte of E. Amherst, NY; Cathy (James) Incorvaia of Williamsville, NY; Barbara (Patrick) DelMonte of Forestville, NY and Laurie (Thomas) Rizzo, III of Buffalo, NY; nine grandchildren Joseph (Kristy) DelMonte, Jenna DelMonte, Jacquelyn DelMonte, Joelle DelMonte, Jessica Incorvaia, Sarah (Jeremy) D'Amaro, Emily (Steven) Duckworth, Thomas (Rachel) Rizzo, III and Zachary Rizzo; one great grandson Isaiah DelMonte; one sister Barbara Maruca formerly Teixeira of Niagara Falls, NY, her children and their families; his former wife Loretta (Cullis) Maruca and several cousins.


Visitation will be on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 9th at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY with Military Honors.
