IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gaetano "Guy"
Pizzi
April 28, 2021
Gaetano Pizzi, age 79, of Youngstown, NY, went home to his Lord on April 28, 2021. Born in Sassano, Salerno, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Ricciardone) Pizzi.
Guy was raised in Italy and, at age 19, moved to Canada before immigrating to the United States where he proudly obtained citizenship. He settled in Niagara Falls, where he married the love of his life, Giovanna Marie "Mary" Pizzi, on July 23, 1969 at St. Teresa's Church. After moving to Youngstown, Guy joined St Bernard's Church where he was a faithful member for over 45 years.
Guy was a very devoted family man, friend and was loved by his co-workers. With his quick-witted sense of humor and dashing smile, he made friends wherever he went. Guy raised his granddaughter, Anna, from infancy and the two were very close. He has also been Mary's primary caregiver in her time of need for the past 11 years.
Guy was a very skilled autobody worker and worked for Jocoy's Collision for over 35 years before retiring. He loved to travel with his family and would take trips home to Italy to visit and he would take his wife and children to Florida on Spring breaks. His favorite pastimes were tending to his garden and fig trees and he was a great cook. He loved making big Sunday dinners and enjoyed cooking side by side with his grandson, Landin, on weekend visits. Guy was much loved and will be missed by many.
Guy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary; his children: Anthony (Noelle) Pizzi and Rose Pizzi; his grandchildren: Anna, Landin, Judy, Alyssa and Madison; great-grandchildren: Leighton, Magnolia and Tobias; his siblings: Giovanni (Alfozina) Pizzi, Michelina (late Gesuold) Russo, and was predeceased by Franca (Antonio) Ricciardone and Giuseppe Pizzi.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 10 from 3 – 7 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Guy's Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Bernard's Church, 218 Hinman Street, Youngstown, NY. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
