Obituary

It is with broken and aching hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Father and Grandfather, Gary Alan Favero Sr, 64, in Niagara Falls, NY on September 29 th , 2021.

Born in Niagara Falls on November 16 th , 1956, to Rita (Yorio), and the late William Favero, Gary's mother and sisters would say that after a couple of dangerous encounters, Gary was on borrowed time but always tried to live life to the fullest.

Gary graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1974 and maintained lifelong friendships developed during his time there. Gary was a jack of all trades – mechanic, plumber, carpenter, and electrician and he passed these skills on to his children. Since retiring from Edwards High Vacuum in 2017, Gary was able to spend time doing the things that brought him peace: morning coffee on the porch, gardening and canning his harvests, cooking, fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding, and the thing he loved most – spending time with his children. Gary had a way of making everyone feel welcome when they were with him. He was kind, loving, stubborn, tenderhearted, and funny. Amongst the family, Gary was known for mastering the "Irish Exit".

Gary was loyal, protective, and a strong father figure. He cultivated special relationships with each of his children throughout their lives, made sacrifices to ensure that they were always cared for, and taught them what it meant to stick together as a family - especially during difficult times. Gary's hardworking and generous spirit lives on through them. You could never be hungry at dad's because he always insisted you sit, eat, and stay for a visit. Most of us never wanted to leave; we knew we were home. Dad was sauce and meatballs on Sundays, an ice-cold beer on a hot Summer's Day, and 70's classic rock playing while cruising through the countryside; he was our home.

Gary spent his summers and weekends with his Granddaughters Emma, Annalise, and Mila, who affectionately called him "Papa". Papa's greatest joy was his girls, who he loved, cared, and provided for. He was their friend, protector, and pillar of strength. Their love will be forever cherished.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his children Victor (Melissa) Favero, Gary (Caroline) Favero Jr., and Alissa Favero; his three grandchildren, Emma, Annalise, and Mila Favero; his siblings William (Karen) Favero, Vickie (Mickey) Suitor, Bobbie (Joe) Fricano, Gail (Brian) Smith, Lorna (Bob) Krulinsky; his niece Sabrina Poremba, who was like a daughter to him, and for whom he had a special place in his heart; and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary also leaves behind Fran Masic his love, many close friends, and his four-legged companions, who were apart of the family, and he loved dearly.

A friend to all who knew him, Gary was loved, and he will be deeply missed.
