Gary R. Smith, 74, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 2 ^nd , 2019 at Roswell Park Hospital, Buffalo, NY.  Gary was born on July 9 ^th , 1944 in Phillipsburg, PA. to the late J. Edward and Ann M. (Peters) Smith.

Gary came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.  He was employed with the Union Carbide Corporation in Niagara Falls, NY and later at Metaullics in Sanborn, NY as a foreman in their machine shops.  Gary enjoyed gardening and landscaping around the home as well as being a phenomenal cook. He also had a passion for cars especially Corvettes.  Most of all he centered his life around his family especially his grandchildren whom he adored.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Carol R. (Yankelunas) Smith, two children, Tammi (David) Lambert and Dr. Gary R. (Laura) Smith, Jr., five grandchildren, Victoria Lambert, Connor, Cayla, Autumn and Austin Smith, one brother, Edward (Joyce) Smith, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Filomena) Yankelunas and Alan (Elizabeth) Yankelunas. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7 ^th from 4-7 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.  Gary's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.  Please assemble at church.  Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, P.O.
