Genevieve T. Brooks, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday August 25, 2009 at home under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Born in Old Forge, PA she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maryanne Korszoloski.
Genevieve attended school in Pennsylvania. On September 21, 1940 she married Francis Brooks in Pennsylvania and she and her husband moved to Niagara Falls in 1948. Mr. Brooks predeceased her on November 16, 1999. After working for a brief time at Kimberly Clark Corp. in Niagara Falls, Genevieve enjoyed taking care of her family, her home and her beautiful gardens. Upon retirement, she and Francis traveled to the warm climates of Hawaii, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Florida and the Carolinas. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart. Home was what Genevieve enjoyed the most surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and gourmet cook and also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts.
Genevieve is survived by three children Janet (Jack Rufrano) Brooks of Youngstown, NY; Suzanne (John) DiNunzio of Williamsville, NY; Robert (Maureen) Brooks of the Town of Niagara, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Eileen D. LoDato, who passed away on March 26, 2009. Survivors also include ten grandchildren Randall, Karyn and Jeffrey (Heather) Pawlowski; Michael (Katy) and Thomas (Emily) DiNunzio; Heather and Melissa Brooks; Deirdre Cresini, Erica (Gerard) Price and Deborah (Mark) Nezich, ten great grandchildren Julia, Rosalie, Vladi, Noah, Kyle, Hannah, Jordan, Ethan, Josh, Taylor and her expected eleventh great grandchild next March; one sister Tessie Korszoloski of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother Chester (late Violet) Korszoloski of the Town of Niagara, NY; a brother-in-law Ted Brooks; three sister-in-laws Joan Travis, Rosemary Ash, Pat Sickler, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Frank Korszoloski, Mary Potempa Regina Magda, Leo Korszoloski and Steve Korszoloski.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. to offer their condolences for Genevieve and also her late daughter, Eileen, at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday August 29th at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Robert Hughson,officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
