Obituary
George Baloozian, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, beloved husband of Rosalma (Deschamps) Baloozian, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2012 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. He was the son of the late Markar and Nartouhi Boloozian.
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, George graduated from Trott Vocational High School and attended Meany School of Labor Relations in Washington, DC. On January 14, 1956 he married Rosalma (Deschamps) Baloozian in St. Mary of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He worked in various capacities for over 38 years at the former Niagara Junction Railroad, later known as Conrail, until his retirement. George was a member and served as general chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was also 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Armenian American Veterans, and a Merchant Marine. George was a long time benefactor of St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, and St. Mary of the Cataract Church, all in Niagara Falls, NY. He enjoyed playing backgammon and working with computers. George also enjoyed travelling and spending time with his dogs.
In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, George is survived by three nephews and one niece: Tom (Holly) DesChamps, Tim (Robin) DesChamps, Jim (Barb) DesChamps, and Christine (Ken) Bradfield, all of Niagara Falls, Ontario; several godchildren, and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Monoog Boloozian and his sister, Alice (late Frank) Budnick.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3 -7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. The funeral service will be held on Saturday April 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 300 Ninth St. Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Serop Azarian, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 300 Ninth St. Niagara Falls, NY 14303 or St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 322 Ninth Street Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
