George J. Mariano, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May, 19, 2022. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Angelo and Nancy (D'Amico) Mariano.

On June 18, 1966, he married his beloved wife, Lila (Contini) Mariano in St. Catherine's Cathedral, located in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. George attended local schools including Niagara Falls High School. After which he served in the Army National Guard. George was employed for over 30 years in the grocery business. The majority of those years at Tops Markets (Buffalo and Niagara Falls locations) in supervisory positions and as payroll manager.

George had a passion and talent for cooking, which he enjoyed doing for family and friends. His pizzas were second to none! Above all, George loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, George is survived by his sons, George J (Kelly) Mariano II, Gavin (Fran) Mariano, James (Wendy) Mariano, and Thomas (Jill Dolling) Mariano; His Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Gionna, Alivia, and Gino. Ronald and Arianna. Jimmy, Nikki, and Juliana. Heidi, Logan, and Brendan; his brother, Emedio (Angela) Mariano, and sister Susan Gassner, as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends, including longtime friend and neighbor Joe Perri.  George was predeceased by his brother, Hon. John (Nancy) Mariano and sister Michelene Mariano.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 2 PM – 6 PM at M.J.
