George F. York, 71, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the V.A. Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Max K. and Mary (Yaroschak) York.

During the Vietnam War, George served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a corporate systems engineer with EMC Corporation in Hopkinton, MA. George was a member of the Tri Five of WNY, the Free Wheelers of Niagara Falls and the Buffalo Launch Club. He enjoyed traveling and showing his classic car but most of all, George loved spending time with his family and friends.

George is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Lorraine 'Lorrie' K. (Delekta) York, who he married on January 18, 1969, two children Nicole A. York and Scott P. York, one aunt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother-in-law of Bill (Betty) Delekta and Debbie (late Glenn) Hansen.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Dennis Fronckowiak and Rev. Richard Jesionowski at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy Church, 595 E. Park Avenue, Tonawanda, NY concluding with Military Honors. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY at the convenience of family.
