Obituary

Gerald “The Bird” Wendell, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd and Jean (Vespucci) Wendell.

Jerry graduated from LaSalle Senior High School before enlisting in the United States Army, honorably serving his country until his discharge in 1958. He went on to work at the Carborundum Company (BP America) for over 32 years, where he proudly served as a Union Leader and was deeply respected by his coworkers.

A proud motorcycle enthusiast, Jerry enjoyed riding whenever he could, and in his younger years he loved spending time fishing. He cherished the friendships he made throughout his life, especially the time spent with his friends at Mom’s Coffee Shop. Above all, he treasured the moments shared with his beloved family.

Jerry is survived by his devoted companion of 22 years, Michelle Hall; his son, Rory (Carmilla) Wendell, and his daughter, Jennifer (Charles Gadigian) Wendell; two grandsons, Justin Wendell and Brandon Wendell; and his sister, Geraldine Amendola. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Tory Wendell and his siblings, Rebecca “Becky” (John) Tomaszewski and Floyd Wendell.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 9 from 11 – 1 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM.
