Gerardo Franciosa, age 83, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday May 12, 2014 after a brief illness. Born November 25, 1930, the former Niagara Falls School Administrator is survived by his loving wife, Theodora (Pino) Franciosa and four sons: Gerry Franciosa of Cardigan, PEI, Anthony Franciosa of Kenmore, NY, John Franciosa of Spring, TX and Michael Franciosa of Rochester, NY, eighteen grandchildren, his brother John Franciosa of Town of Niagara, NY and an extensive family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gerardo moved to Niagara Falls from his birthplace of Bessemer, PA with his parents Pasquale and Maria Franciosa in 1935 and was both educated and spent most of his life as a native of the city. His career with the Niagara Falls School District spanned 36 years and he retired in 1987. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 and was a lifelong avid sports enthusiast.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 17th from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, donations made to the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated.
