Obituary

Germayne DeVaney Kellett, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, AZ on Sunday June 14th, 2009. Germayne was born to Rosario and Cataldo Camen in Pittston, PA on April 14, 1925, the youngest of seven children. She was predeceased by all her siblings: Sam, Grace, Carmella, Josephine, Charles and Angelo; her beloved husbands, James DeVaney Sr., who passed away in 1975 and William Kellett, who passed away in 2005 and her son, James DeVaney Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Peggy [Robert] Lashway of Scottsdale, AZ, son , Daniel [Judith] DeVaney of East Lansing, MI and grandchildren Brenna [David], James [Mayuri], Sara, Bobby, Jennifer, and great-grandsons Noah and Owen.
Germayne was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who hit the lottery twice by having two incredible loving marriages. Her legacy is one of unconditional love for her family, unmatched kindness for every stranger she ever met and a reputation as one of the finest, most gifted cooks one could ever hope to meet.

She taught three generations how to respect and cherish children by believing in them until they believed in themselves, by listening carefully that they might be heard, by celebrating their uniqueness that they might feel special, by freely giving hugs that they would feel safe, by putting them first that they might learn sacrifice, by always being there that they might know commitment. For all this and so much more, the very example of her life is an unending gift of wisdom and love for which we will always feel blessed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Saturday August 8th at 10 AM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
